Laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) is an international standard for gallbladder disease (gallbladder / bile).

When to consider laparoscopic cholecystectomy?

Most indications for gallbladder surgery come the discovery of gallstones (stones within the gallbladder), since the emerging gallstones can lead to serious complications of an apparently trivial condition.

What symptoms suggest the existence of gallbladder disease?
  • Pain in the right upper abdomen (right upper quadrant) and in the chest (epigastric)
  • Nausea, vomiting bilious-looking
  • Bitter taste, especially in the morning
  • Headache (cefalee)
  • Abdominal bloating (flatulence)

Complications that may occur as a result of gallstones are:

  • Infectious - Acute cholecystitis / chronic;
  • Migration - jaundice; acute pancreatitis
  • Perforation - peritonitis; subhepatic abscess; biliary ileus
  • Neoplasia - cancers of the gallbladder

All of these complications require performing cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), but in these stages, the doctor will decide whether laparoscopic cholecystectomy (with small incisions) can be achieved. Making timely surgery is preferred and recommended by the first symptoms, with the highlight of gallstones.

Why choose surgery laparoscopic gallbladder removal?

There are many benefits of laparoscopic interventions:

  • Pain lower
  • Faster postoperative recovery
  • Shorter hospitalization period
  • Pleasant aesthetics
  • Professional reintegration faster
  • Very rare postoperative wound complications

Because of these benefits, surgeons advise patients laparoscopic interventions but doctor will decide what type of intervention depending on the patient's condition and gallbladder disease.
